FIBS Bot: tesauro

tesauro was the FIBS incarnation of TD Gammon, the first neural net backgammon program, trained partly by pubeval. TD Gammon was written by Gerry Tesauro (tesauro@watson.ibm.com, gerry on FIBS).

Although tesauro is not on FIBS these days, a one-point match playing version, TD_one is.

There are several accounts of TD Gammon's history and groundbreaking application of temporal difference (hence 'TD') learning in game programs. Probably the best is on Jay Scott's site.
