Backgammon Program: TD Gammon
TD Gammon, written by Gerry Tesauro (tesauro@watson.ibm.com, gerry
on FIBS) of IBM, was the first neural net backgammon program and is
still one of the strongest computer players. A version of TD Gammon
plays on FIBS as TD_one; the original FIBS
incarnation was called tesauro.
TD Gammon is available free for OS/2 only; the zip file can be
downloaded.
There are several accounts of TD Gammon's history and groundbreaking
application of temporal difference (hence 'TD') learning in game
programs. Probably the best is on
Jay Scott's site.
