Backgammon Program: Jellyfish

Probably the best known computer backgammon program, Jellyfish has had a significant effect on many aspects of the modern game. It plays on FIBS under the names jellyfish and jf_level_five.

Jellyfish is a commcerial program written by Fredrik Dahl (fredahl@sn.no, fredrikd on FIBS) and Effect Software, Norway. Three versions exist, all for MS Windows only:

Shareware: plays matches but does nothing else
Tutor: ditto, plus comments on your moves and cube decisions
Analyser: ditto, plus rollouts

The Jellyfish Web site gives full information and lets you download the shareware version.

I have a record of my first 160 matches with Jellyfish, set to level 5.
